James E. McGrathJames E. McGrath, Vice President and Treasurer of Bragan Reporting Associates, was born and grew up in Bedford, Massachusetts. After graduating from high school, Jim attended Arlington Technical Institute and received a certificate in Electronic Data Processing. He then entered the United States Army where he was in the Military Police. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Jim attended Bentley College where he received the degree of BSA in Accounting with honors in 1973. From 1971 through 1975, he worked as an Auditor and then Senior Auditor for Hall and Bolton, a medium sized CPA firm in Boston. In 1975, he accepted the position of Controller, and was later promoted to VP of Financial Operations for Blake & Rebhan Company. In 1977, Jim married Maryellen Horgan and moved to Peabody, Mass., where they had two children, James in 1980 and Caitlin in 1987. While working for Blake & Rebhan, Jim attended Babson College and earned his MBA in 1979. After nine years with Blake & Rebhan, Jim accepted the position of VP of Finance for Strong Group, Inc., a manufacturing and sales company in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He also formed a small business consulting firm called New England Accounting & Management Systems which he ran on a part time basis until 1987, when the demands became too great to remain a part time venture, and he made it his full time career. In 1992, he scaled his consulting business back to part time and became owner of Bragan Reporting with Andrew Vangjel. He has also taken over the responsibilities of the video end of the business and has become certified by the American Guild of Court Videographers (CCV) and the National Court Reporters Association (CLVS).
